Publishers’ Letter / Spring 2017Darcia Black

Hello spring and hello readers!

If I haven’t already said it once, I’ll say it again... It’s time to spring forward - a time for all things new! Spring is definitely in the air and homebuyers are coming out of hibernation. With the end to the holidays and the weather warming up, it’s the time of year that is typically considered the period for the housing market to bloom. This spring is not expected to be like any other with inventory low and demand high. Because of this, 2017 is expected to be a big year for home sales! With that being said, let’s talk about what to look for when buying a home. Exceptional floor plans that fit your family’s needs are going to be on the rise. Whether you’re getting older and need more accessibility with an owner’s suite on the first floor, or if you’re a single professional with younger children and need flex space for a play room, builders are attempting to meet multi-generational needs.

On page 12, take a look at what options you should consider when buying a new home. This article features insight from the professionals, some of the top new home builders in the triangle offer insight to what brings value and functionality to fit your family.
If spring is indeed inspiring you to pull out of the hibernation mode to get outdoors, you will want to check out our article on Luxurious Outdoor Living on page 20. Add some color to your garden, find a waterfall that is both elegant and makes a statement, or revamp your landscaping. You deserve to have curb appeal that will WOW.

If it’s your interior that you want to freshen up for spring, how about you start by allowing the light from your windows to brighten up your space as seen on page 26 in Window & Door Trends that can completely change the look and feel of your home.
I hope we continue to inspire you issue after issue. If you are looking for even more great tips, tricks, and information about home design or even what community or floor plan to choose when buying a new home, be sure to see more at
